HERC is ideally located for study abroad faculty and students at 17 Agias Filotheis Str, a quiet pedestrian street in the neighborhood of Plaka, the heart of Athens’ historical center.
We are a 3 minutes’ walk from Syntagma (Constitution) train/metro station, and 5 to 10 minutes from the major archaeological sites of Athens (Acropolis, Agora, Kerameikos). HERC can be reached easily by train/metro from both Athens airport and the port of Piraeus. From Syntagma Square, there are buses and trolleys to all destinations.
The surrounding area of Plaka is a pleasant and safe environment full of cafes, restaurants and local tavernas. Apart from its proximity to the major archaeological sites of Athens, Plaka is an old Athenian neighborhood inhabited by traditional Greek families and visited daily by large numbers of Greeks and foreigners for educational and recreational purposes. Plaka is also adjacent to the old neighborhood of Monastiraki and close to Psiri, which are well known for their markets and art galleries.
